The Charge

Welcome to The Charge, Lenoir-Rhyne University's orientation program!

On Friday, August 21, you'll begin your collegiate experience as a Bear. Over the course of the weekend, Orientation Leaders (OLs) will welcome new students HOME to LRU, helping them to discover their COURAGE during this time of transition. Students will be provided with the necessary tools and resources to ensure success as they use their BRAIN in the classroom. Incoming freshman will be encouraged to find their HEART and passion as they are provided opportunities to participate in student organizations, clubs, or join athletic teams. Get ready because There’s No Place Like Home — your new home at LRU!

What is The Charge?

The Charge is more than the name of our orientation program. It's what happens to you during the orientation experience. New students begin orientation as strangers, but by the end of the weekend, they are equipped with the tools, resources, and friends to take charge of their collegiate experience!

The purpose of The Charge is to help you engage with other incoming freshmen while learning about life here at Lenoir-Rhyne and the city of Hickory. OLs will be available to make sure your transition to college is as smooth as possible, introduce you to a few of the local eateries, and participate with you in your first service project as a Bear.

Class of 2019, we look forward to seeing you again in the Fall!
